VIT Entrance Examination

Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in VIT group of Institutions. VITEEE will be conducted between 21 and 27 April 2025 (tentatively) at designated centres across India and abroad (No. of days will vary for test cities). The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. Candidates can appear only once for VITEEE-2025. All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and one mark for the right answer and zero for the wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. Those who score '0' in total will be declared as 'Not qualified' and will not be eligible to participate in the counselling process. There will be a total of 125 questions divided into the section Maths/Biology (40 questions), Physics (35 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Aptitude (10 questions), and English (5 questions). The question paper will be in English only. The fee towards application and subsequent counselling is non-refundable. The method of Equi-percentile is adopted for the rank list preparation of VITEEE-Computer Based Examination.

4. Once OTP is validated, a password will be sent to your registered email address.
5. All the correspondence shall be made to the registered email address and mobile number only.

1. Fill in the relevant fields carefully. An Application Number will be generated after filling primary details.

1. Application cost of Rs. 1350 should be paid through Net Banking Account/ Credit/ Debit Card/ Paytm
2. For test centers abroad, the fee to be paid is the equivalent of USD 90 in INR.
3. Application cost is non-refundable

    Nationality

  • The applicant for VITEEE should be a Resident / Non-Resident Indian National / OCI / PIO Holder.
  • NRI applicants can directly apply under 'NRI Category' through NRI application form. (Will be available shortly) (https://vit.ac.in/admissions/international/overview)
  • Foreign applicants who studied/studying abroad can apply directly through the International application form.(Will be available shortly)

    Age Limit

  • Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 2003 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2025.Candidates who fail to produce this certificate in original as proof of their age at the time of counselling, shall stand disqualified.
  • The date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / X Certificate will be considered authentic.
  • Applicants should produce this certificate in original as proof of their age at the time of counselling/admission, failing which their candidacy for admission will be disqualified.

    Qualifying Examination

    Candidates appearing for the VITEEE-2025 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2025, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:
    1. The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or any other Board accepted by VIT as equivalent to 10+2 examination.
    2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
    3. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
    4. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva. (Physics & Mathematics - HL, Chemistry - SL).
    5. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with minimum of 5 subjects as recognized by central board.
    6. Applicants who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India should produce an equivalence certificate to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination with grade/CGPA converted to percentage.
      • Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full Time and Formal Education are alone eligible to apply. Candidates who have appeared for multiple board examinations in the same academic year are not eligible.
      • For Indian nationals attending VITEEE 2025 is mandatory to be eligible for B.Tech. admission.
      • In case VITEEE 2025 gets cancelled due to natural calamities or causes beyond the control of the institute, qualifying criteria may be substituted with higher secondary marks. Applicants shall be informed accordingly.

    Requirement in the Qualifying Examination

  • Applicants should be qualified for admission to collegiate education.
  • Applicants applying for the Undergraduate Engineering admission in 2025 should have passed with minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology (PCM/PCB/PCMB) in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).
  • Applicants applying for the Undergraduate Engineering admission in 2025 should have passed with minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate) for the following categories :
    1. Applicants belonging to SC/ST
    2. Applicants hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the Northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Certificate to prove community / nativity should be produced at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for admission.

    Subject Eligibility

  • PCMB/PCM applicants who have attempted Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (MPCEA) in VITEEE 2025 are eligible for all B.Tech. Programmes.
  • PCMB/PCB applicants who have attempted Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (BPCEA) in VITEEE 2025 & PCB applicants who have attempted Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (MPCEA) in VITEEE 2025 are eligible only for the following programmes :
    1. B.Tech. Biotechnology (VIT, Vellore)
    2. B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Bioinformatics), (VIT - Vellore)
    3. B.Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering (Biomedical Engineering), (VIT - Vellore)
    4. B.Tech. Health Sciences and Technology (VIT - Vellore)
    5. B.Tech. Bioengineering (VIT - Bhopal)
    6. B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Health Informatics), (VIT - Bhopal)
  • Selection is based on the rank secured through CBT (Computer Based Test) VITEEE 2025.
  • Selected candidates can participate in online counseling based on their ranking. They can give options for specific campus, programme and category of fees. Allotment will be based on the rank obtained and available options.
  • Candidates with rank Upto 1 Lakh are eligible for counselling to all the four campuses, VIT-Vellore, VIT-Chennai, VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal. Rank holders above 1 lakh are eligible for counselling to VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal campuses only.
  • VIT will verify the eligibility of candidates after completing the tuition fee payment on or before the stipulated date. Candidates are required to produce documents while reporting to the campus or as and when asked for, by the Office of Admissions. Provisional Admission offered during counselling will be valid ONLY if the eligibility is fulfilled.

Which branch in Engineering would have the best scope?
All engineering programmes have an equally good scope. Much depends on your passion for the program and your endeavor to excel.

Are candidates appearing for Improvement/Privately also eligible to apply for VITEEE?
'Yes'. They are eligible to apply for VITEEE and should produce their marks sheet at the time of counseling/ admission.

What is the cost of the VITEEE Application form?

How many campuses does VIT have?
Under VIT Group there are: VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT AP and VIT Bhopal. The first two come under Deemed to be University and VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal are state private Universities.

Will I be offered the option of choosing campus and program while filling application?
'No'. Only at the time of counseling you will be offered the option of choosing campus and programme. This would depend on the availability of the programme and campus as per your rank in the order of merit.

What is the closing date for issue of applications?
Applications will be issued till end of March 2025 (tentative)

Does VIT offer admissions through Management quota?
There is no Management Quota in VIT. Admissions to B.Tech. programme is based on the merit rank obtained in the VITEEE 2025 and for other Undergraduate programmes, it is based on the merit of your XII/ Higher Secondary Boards by which you would be ranked accordingly.

Is there lateral entry admission available for Diploma candidates?
'No'. There is no lateral entry admission offered for B.Tech. programme

Is VITEEE mandatory or would merit of XII/ Higher Secondary Board, JEE Main/ SAT scores be considered for admission to the B.Tech. Degree programme?
'Yes'. VITEEE is mandatory for admission to the B.Tech. Programme in VIT. Higher Secondary Board, JEE Main/ SAT scores will not be considered for admission to the B.Tech. Degree programme

What would be the syllabus and Question pattern (QP) for the VITEEE?

  • Math's or Biology (40 questions), Physics (35 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Aptitude (10 questions) and English (5 questions) in two and half-an-hour without negative marking.

Could I have some information on the VITEEE?
  • VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted between 21st April - 27th April 2025 (Tentatively) however the number of days for each city will vary. CBT - Computer based test.
  • The duration of the Entrance Examination will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes
  • The details on the sessions and timings would be intimated before slot booking.

If a student has selected / allotted a particular branch of Engineering through counseling, in a selected campus, under a specific category, would it be possible to change the branch, campus or category later after allotment?

Once allotted. There is no Sliding/ up gradation in category / change of campus/ change of branch option offered further to admission.


What would be the valid ID proofs needed to be produced in the entrance examination hall, in addition to the E-admit card with photograph?

You should bring original of either Aadhar card/ Driving license/ PAN card / Passport/ Voter ID card or else School ID card.


Is there an option to 'Edit' the application form in web?

'Yes'. Once you complete the application form, you will be able to edit your application. (After making the payment and uploading your photo & Signature)


How do I edit my application?

You will find the 'Edit' option on top of the screen at the application- download stage. (You would be able to edit all fields inclusive of test city)


What am I supposed to do if my PIN code is not found in application form ?

When will be the mock exam for VITEEE?

Mock test will be scheduled after slot booking.

I have secured 62% overall in +2 examination, but 53.35% in PCM/ PCB. In such case, am I eligible for admission?
'No'. You should satisfy the eligibility criteria of obtaining a minimum aggregate of 60% in PCM/PCB for the B.Tech. Programme. Refer information brochure for detailed eligibility criteria.

Is there a specific age limit to apply for VITEEE?
'Yes'. Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 2003 are only eligible to apply for VITEEE-2025.

I am an Indian but have completed my 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Education abroad. What would I enter under the 'Nationality' field in such case?

Which Engineering stream would I be eligible to apply for if I opt for Physics, Chemistry and Biology?
If you have opted for Physics, Chemistry and Biology in VITEEE 2025, you would be eligible only for (1) B.Tech Bio-Engineering, (2) B.Tech Biotechnology, (3) B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Bioinformatics), (4) B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Health Informatics). What's the cut off / rank in VITEEE required for my desirable course?
Admissions for B.Tech Programmes are based on the merit rank from VITEEE and therefore it differs from year to year. It is only after you are ranked from the VITEEE and attend counselling that you may tentatively guess the rank range required for a particular branch. Higher the rank higher the chances to get your desirable course.

Marking Scheme of VITEEE ranking?
Each question contains one mark; there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

What do I do if I have made the payment but not received a confirmation?
Please read this important instruction related to payment issues given below and also in the VITEEE page.

  • At the time of transaction, the amount is debited, kindly wait for an hour in the same login page.
  • If Amount debited more than one time, it will be refunded to your account in 5 to 7 days.

Would there be a refund if I have made two payment transactions for my VITEEE application?

'Yes'. If the amount towards the VITEEE application form has been paid twice for the same application, the excess amount paid will be refunded to your account within 7 working days.



What If I haven't received within 5-7 working days?

How can I get the admit card?
After the slot booking, you would be able to download the admit card.

What is slot booking in VIT?
Slot booking refers to you choosing your venue, date and time for the VITEEE at your desired test city.Vellore Institute of Technology VIT starts the online VITEEE Slot Booking at VIT's Online Test Booking System.(OTBS). The candidates have to use their VITEEE 2025 application number and password to enter the VIT OTBS. The slot booking is done in the first come first serve basis. After the VITEEE 2025 Slot booking the candidates can check their admit card that is generated just after. The candidates have to download the same and complete the process.

Can student change their slots?
A slot once booked cannot be changed.

Can student change their Test city?
'Yes' Can be changed till the application close for VITEEE 2025. Change of test city from abroad to India - No extra payment. Change of test city from India to abroad - $90 Extra payment (or equivalent INR)

If student missed the slot booking, can he still apply?
It is the responsibility of the candidates to book their test schedule in OTBS within the given time frame. The Institute will not be held accountable for the non-bookings. The application fee will not be refunded under any circumstances for such cases.

What was the last year's intake for B.Tech?
Admissions to various B.Tech Branches are based on the merit rank from VITEEE and therefore differ from year to year. It is only after you are ranked from the VITEEE and attends counselling that you could briefly estimate the rank range required for a particular branch. Do not believe any social media sources as they might mislead you.

Does VIT provide scholarships to students from rural areas and underprivileged meritorious students?
STARS (Support the Advancement of Rural Students Scheme) helps students from under privileged backgrounds of Tamil Nadu/ Andra Pradesh to achieve their dreams by giving them 100% fee waiver for their academic, hostel and basic medical expenses. Top boys and girls from Rural Government schools are shortlisted for the scheme.

What is Fully Flexible Credit System?
In a Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS), a candidate has the complete freedom to select time table with the choices on the teacher, time. In addition, they may register less or more number of courses (subject to minimum/ maximum criteria) to finish early and take more than 6 month project in final year.
