Age Limit :
  • Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1999 are eligible to apply for UG Engineering admission (UGEA) 2021. The date of birth as recorded in the High School / SSC / X Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age at the time of counselling / admission, failing which they will be disqualified.
Qualifying Examination:

Candidates applying for UG Engineering admission should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2021, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi.
  • Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • As per VIT Norms, Regular 'NIOS' board candidates are also eligible for Undergraduate Engineering programmes. Applicants should produce the Migration Cum Transfer Certificate at the time of joining.
  • They should also provide the marks secured in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Total (including all subjects) and upload the scanned copy of the mark list and other relevant documents whenever available on the application form.
  • For Indian nationals/ NRI/ PIO card holder, appearance in VITEEE-21 is mandatory to be eligible for B. Tech. admission under regular mode (Applicants under International/NRI quota exempted) . In case VITEEE gets cancelled due to natural calamities, qualifying criteria may be substituted with higher secondary marks or JEE-21 or a valid SAT. Applicants will be informed with specifics in such case.
Eligibility Criteria For The Qualifying Examination:
  • Candidates applying for the Undergraduate Engineering admission in 2021 should have secured minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).
  • The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be minimum aggregate of 50% for the following categories:
    • Candidates belonging to SC/ST
    • Candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. CERTIFICATE TO PROVE COMMUNITY / NATIVITY should be produced at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for admission.

  • Candidates having studied Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry in +2 / Higher Secondary Board are eligible for all the B.Tech. Programmes
  • Candidates having studied Biology/Physics/Chemistry in +2/ Higher Secondary Board are eligible for the following Bio stream programmes only. Upon joining, the students need to mandatorily register for a bridge course in Mathematics

All Engineering branches have an equally good scope. Much depends on your passion for the programme and your endeavour to excel.

3. Are candidates appearing for Improvement/Privately also eligible to apply for VITEEE?
Yes. They are eligible to apply for VITEEE and should produce their marks sheet at the time of counselling.

No. There is no lateral entry admission offered for B.Tech in VIT.

7. How many campuses does VIT have?
VIT group of institutions are VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT Amaravati in AP and VIT Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

8. Will I be offered the option of choosing my campus?
Yes. At the time of counseling you would be offered the option of choosing your campus. This would depend on the availability of the campus as per your rank in the order of merit.

9. What is the closing date for issue of applications?
Applications will be issued till May end 2021.

10. Which Engineering stream would I be eligible to apply for if I opt for Physics, Chemistry and Biology?
If you have opted for Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination, you would be eligible only for B.Tech. Degree programmes in Bio-Engineering; Biotechnology; Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Bioinformatics and Electronics and Communication with specialization in Bio-medical Engineering and then CSE with specialization in Health Informatics. However you would be required to register for Mathematics as bridge course, which is mandatory.
11. Does VIT offer admissions through Management quota?
Admissions to the B.Tech.programme is purely based on the merit rank obtained in the VITEEE and for other Undergraduate programmes, it is based on the merit performance of XII/ Higher Secondary Boards.

12.Is VITEEE mandatory or would merit of XII/ Higher Secondary Board, JEE Main/ SAT scores be considered for admission to the B.Tech. Degree programme?
VITEEE is mandatory for admission to B.Tech. programme in VIT.

In case of the continuing pandemic or other calamities which may lead to the cancellation of VITEEE, XII Board marks/ JEE-Main / SAT score would be considered as the ranking methodology. Hence we have provided the optional field now on the application.

13. What would be the syllabus and model Question Paper (QP) for the VITEEE?

- The questions (MCQ) will primarily be from the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus. Maths or Biology (40 questions), Physics (35 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Aptitude (10 questions) and English (5 questions).
14. Could I have some information on the VITEEE?
- VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted between 18th June to 26th June 2021
- The duration of the Entrance Examination will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes
- The details on the sessions and timings would be intimated before slot booking

. 15. Will VITEEE 2021 be held as scheduled, considering the fact that CBSE and State Board exams have been postponed owing to the recent pandemic?
VITEEE is most likely to be held as scheduled. Candidates ranked through merit of VITEEE could attend counselling but produce their XII Mark sheet later to qualify for admission.

16. If VITEEE is to be held in June 2021, Is it still mandatory to upload XII marks/Mark sheet, Hall ticket and JEE- Main /SAT scores in the Document Upload page to complete the application process?
The candidate can upload the document when available.

17. What would be the valid ID proofs needed to be produced in the entrance examination hall, in addition to the E-admit card with photograph?
You could produce either your Aadhar card/ Driving license/ PAN card / Passport/ Voter ID card as original / school ID.

18. I have secured 62% overall in +2 examination, but 58.35% in PCM/ PCB. In such case, am I eligible for admission?
No. You should satisfy the eligibility criteria of obtaining a minimum aggregate of 60% in PCM/PCB for the B.Tech. programme.
50% in PCM/PCB case of SC/ ST and students heading from North East states.

19. Is there a specific age limit to apply for VITEEE?
Yes. Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1999 are only eligible to apply for VITEEE-2021.

20. Is there an option to Edit the application form in web?
Yes. Once you complete the application form, you will be able to edit your application. (After making the payment and uploading your photo & Signature).

21. How do I edit my application?
You will find the Edit option on the left side of the screen at the application- download stage. (You would be able to edit all fields inclusive of test city and uploaded documents except the registered mail Id and mobile number).

22. Would it be possible to edit the application form in mobile app?
Yes. You can edit at any stage, before the deadline announced by VIT.

23. What am I supposed to do if my PIN code is not found in my application?
PIN code has been integrated in our software / Kindly mail (ugadmission@vit.ac.in) or share your pin code for immediate rectification.

24. I am an Indian but have completed my 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Education abroad. What would I enter under the Nationality field in such case?
NRI (Non Resident Indian)

25. What do I do if I have made the payment but not received a confirmation?
Please read this important instruction related to payment issues given below and also in the VITEEE page.

- If the amount is debited from your account, kindly wait for 48-72 hours to ensurethat the payment is successful.
- If you do not receive a message even after 48-72 hours, this indicates that the transaction has failed. Please check if the amount has been credited to your account.
- You could attempt a fresh transaction using the same registered E-mail address.
- Depending on the source through which the transaction was made, we would be able to confirm the receipt of amount only after 4 working days.

26. Would there be a refund if I have made two payment transactions for my VITEEE application?
Yes. If the amount towards the VITEEE application form has been paid twice for the same application, the excess amount paid will be refunded to your account within 7 working days.

27. I heard about different fee categories in admission. Please give me details?
The fee announced in website is the fee payable under direct merit after fee concession. The category-wise fees will be declared at the time of counselling and would depend on the candidate's rank and seat allotment based on the branch.

29. How can I get the admit card?
After the slot booking, you would be able to download the admit card.

30. What is slot booking in VIT?
Slot booking refers to you choosing your venue, date and time for the VITEEE at your desired test city. VIT University starts the online VITEEE Slot Booking at VIT's Online Test Booking System (OTBS). The candidates have to use their VITEEE 2021 application number and password to enter the VIT OTBS. The slot booking is done in the first come first serve basis . After the VITEEE 2021 Slot booking the candidates can check their admit card that is generated just after. The candidates have to download the same and complete the process.

31. Can student change their slots/ Test city?
A slot once booked cannot be changed. Request for change of test city can be accommodated before slot booking.
Change of test city from abroad to India - No extra payment.
Change of test city to India to abroad - Extra payment of $35 ( OR equivalent INR)

32. If student missed the slot booking, can he still apply?
It is the responsibility of the candidates to book their test schedule in OTBS within the given time frame , If candidates miss the Institute allot the slots.

33. What was the last year's intake for B.Tech?
We admitted around 10,000 in VIT Group of Institution.
34. Does VIT provide scholarships to VITEEE meritorious students?
Scholarship will be awarded based on VITEEE performance.

35. Does VIT provide scholarships to students from rural areas and underprivileged meritorious students?
STARS (Support the Advancement of Rural Students Scheme) helps students from under privileged backgrounds to achieve what they deserve by giving them 100% fee waiver for their academic, hostel and basic medical expenses. Top one boy and girl from Rural Government schools of each district are shortlisted for the scheme (Government Schools located under Corporation, Municipality, Town panchayat limits are not eligible).
36. What is the hostel facilities offered on campus? Is living on the campus compulsory for freshers?
